Enviroment
Across Connecticut, Lions are committed to protecting the environment and preserving the natural spaces that make our communities healthy, beautiful, and sustainable. Through hands-on service, education, and partnerships, Lions clubs in Districts 23A, 23B, and 23C take action to care for the land, water, and public spaces we all share.
Environmental service allows Lions to make an immediate, visible impact — improving quality of life today while protecting resources for future generations.
Connecticut Lions regularly organize and participate in community cleanups throughout the year, including parks, trails, rivers, shorelines, and roadside areas.
These efforts include:
Park, trail, and greenway cleanups
Roadside and neighborhood litter removal
River, lake, and shoreline cleanups
Beautification of town centers and public spaces
By working side by side with residents, schools, and local organizations, Lions help create cleaner, safer, and more welcoming communities.
Many Lions clubs participate in Earth Day activities and environmental awareness events, using these opportunities to promote stewardship and responsible environmental practices.
Lions support environmental education by:
Hosting or participating in Earth Day cleanups
Sharing information on recycling and waste reduction
Partnering with schools, scouts, and youth groups
Encouraging community involvement in conservation efforts
These events help raise awareness while inspiring people of all ages to take pride in caring for their environment.
Connecticut Lions also focus on long-term environmental health through projects that support ecosystems and biodiversity.
These initiatives include:
Tree planting projects in parks and public spaces
Pollinator gardens to support bees and wildlife
Restoration of natural habitats and green spaces
Maintenance of walking trails and conservation areas
These efforts improve air and water quality, enhance wildlife habitats, and provide lasting benefits to local communities.
Lions understand that environmental challenges require collaboration. Across the districts, clubs partner with:
Municipal departments
Conservation and land trust organizations
Schools and youth groups
Community volunteers
By combining resources and volunteer power, Lions amplify their impact and ensure projects are sustainable and meaningful.
Together, Connecticut Lions:
Improve public spaces through hands-on service
Promote environmental responsibility and education
Protect natural resources for future generations
Strengthen community pride and engagement
From small-town trails to urban parks and shorelines, Lions are making a difference — one project at a time.
