Across Connecticut, Lions are committed to improving hearing health and ensuring that children, adults, and seniors have access to the care they need. Through screenings, education, and direct assistance, Lions clubs in Districts 23A, 23B, and 23C help break down barriers that too often prevent people from receiving hearing support.
Hearing loss can isolate individuals from family, education, employment, and community life. Connecticut Lions work to change that — one screening, one device, and one person at a time.
Connecticut Lions regularly offer hearing screenings at:
Community health fairs
Senior centers
Veterans events
Lions service carnivals
Municipal and school-based events
These screenings:
Identify early signs of hearing loss
Help individuals recognize issues they may not yet notice
Provide referrals for follow-up care
Promote awareness of hearing health and prevention
Early detection can significantly improve outcomes — especially for children and seniors — and Lions screenings help connect people to the care they need before hearing loss worsens.
Across all three districts, Connecticut Lions support hearing aid collection and assistance programs, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent access to hearing care.
Lions clubs:
Collect used hearing aids for refurbishing and redistribution
Provide financial assistance for hearing exams and devices
Help individuals access affordable hearing solutions
Support both children and adults with hearing challenges
These programs restore more than sound — they restore independence, confidence, and connection.
Hearing loss disproportionately affects seniors and veterans, while untreated hearing issues in children can impact speech development, learning, and social engagement.
Connecticut Lions hearing initiatives support:
Seniors struggling with age-related hearing loss
Veterans experiencing service-related hearing challenges
Children whose hearing needs affect education and development
By addressing hearing health across the lifespan, Lions strengthen families and communities statewide.
In addition to screenings and assistance, Connecticut Lions promote hearing health through:
Public education on noise exposure and prevention
Awareness campaigns encouraging regular hearing checks
Distribution of hearing-health information at community events
Partnerships with healthcare providers and service organizations
These efforts empower individuals to take proactive steps to protect their hearing and seek help when needed.
Together, Connecticut Lions:
Provide accessible hearing screenings across the state
Assist individuals who cannot afford hearing care
Support vulnerable populations with compassion and dignity
Promote lifelong hearing health and awareness
This coordinated approach ensures hearing services reach communities large and small — urban, suburban, and rural alike.
